Cottage

Can i drive to the cottage?

No. The cottage is boat access only. The pontoon boat is waiting for you in a dedicated slip in the marina.

Is the cottage on the water?

Yes the cottage is built on a large piece of Canadian Shield jutting out of the water. The cottage is only feet from the water’s edge.

Do you have a BBQ?

I have two BBQs. There is a large propane BBQ with sear station; as well as a charcoal BBQ/Smoker. Propane and one bag of charcoal is provided.

Is there a fire pit?

Yes there is a fire pit. It’s just down the stairs from the cottage.

Are pets allowed?

I consider pets to be part of the family so yes pets are permitted.

Is it difficult to walk up to the cottage?

When you dock the boat at the cottage you dock to a 12 x 16 foot floating dock which is almost level with the pontoon boat so it’s just a matter of walking on and off. To get to the cottage you have a series of stone steps , approximately 15 steps. The steps are solid but not uniformly spaced and can be slippery when wet so caution is advised.

How many can you sleep?

The cottage has 3 bedrooms counting the Bunky. In the main cottage there are two bedroom with two twin platform beds in each. If required you can pushed the beds together into a short King size bed. The Bunky has a queen size bed and also has AC. Over the kitchen is a loft with a twin, this is accessed by pull down ladder.  The rooms described sleep a total of 7 adults. Finally there is a futon / sofa that can sleep two more but the cottage is relatively small so I don’t recommend that as an option for a week’s stay.

Do you have a Canoe or Kayak?

Yes. Included in the cottage rental you have a canoe and two kayaks with paddles and lifejackets.

What do you supply?

I will provide a detailed list items i supply as we get closer to your arrival date but some of what i supply are: a stack of bath towels, toilet paper, coffee for the drip machine and filters, tea, dish towels, kitchen pantry items (spice mixes, salt, pepper, sugar), propane for the gas bbq, one bag of charcoal for the charcoal bbq/smoker.

The Satellite package offers a full selection of local and network stations as well as a series of specialty channels, including some sports channels. Please note i do not subscribe to any specialty movie or sports packages.

Swimming

Can you swim from the cottage?

Yes the swimming is very good.   The water depth drops off very quick so you can swim, dive and jump right off the dock and because of the geography the cottage is set back and protected by a little island that keeps any power boats away. kids can swim safe without worry of speed boats getting too close.

Is there a beach?

There is a small stretch of sandy shoreline we call “The Beach” . It's just two or three minutes boat ride from the cottage.  You will beach the pontoon right on the sand and you are likely to see over boats there. Enjoy your time there with a picnic, sun tanning or swimming.  IMPORTANT - There are no lifeguards so keep an eye on your kids.

Parking

Can I park my car all week?

Yes. there is one dedicated parking spot in the parking lot close to the Marina but any other car can park in one of the deeded parking lots at the top of the road (marked with signs) as you drive in. you can also park along side of the road. Please make sure you’re blocking a driveway.

Where can I unpack and pack car?

The launch can get's busy so it’s courteous to unpack your car and park it as quickly as possible.  I recommended you drive down to the boat launch and unpack your gear. Find a spot on the grass as not to block the boat launch and drop your gear there.  Once you have unpacked your car, park the car in the dedicated spot or alongside the road. Repeat in reverse when you leave.
